What we store
When you create an account and use Gear'd, we store the information you provide so we can tailor recommendations to you:
- Account information (email, name, profile photo)
- Body measurements (height, weight, shoe size, clothing size, backpack torso length)
- Fit and gear preferences (e.g. fit preference, gear philosophy, recommendation priorities)
- Favorite brands and ranked retailer preferences
- Saved trips, gear lists, favorites, owned-gear closet, and packing checklist state
How we use your information
We use the information above to personalize gear recommendations for your trips, remember your packing progress, and prefill future trip plans. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
How your data is stored
Gear'd uses a managed cloud database with row-level security so your profile and saved trips are only accessible to you when signed in. Access is gated by your authenticated session.
Payments
Gear'd does not process or store any payment information. When you click through to buy a product, you are taken to a third-party retailer's secure website (for example REI, Backcountry, CampSaver, Public Lands, Garage Grown Gear, Amazon, or the brand directly) to complete your purchase under that retailer's own terms and privacy policy.
Cookies and analytics
Gear'd does not currently use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers. We only use the cookies and local storage necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your in-progress trip and packing state.
Editing or deleting your information
You can manage your information at any time:
- Edit profile fields, measurements, brands, and retailer preferences on the Profile page
- Remove saved trips from the Saved page
- Email us (see Contact) to request full account and data deletion
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle your information, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
